Can Gratitude Affect Climate Change?
Have you given much thought to the blessings each day holds? Do you thank God, the Universe, Allah, Mother/Father God, or any other entity when you wake each morning? Do you see each day as a blessing or a curse? Do you know that how you feel about your life is contagious? There used to be a banner hanging along the wall of an office I worked at years ago. It said, “Attitude Is A Little Thing That Makes A Big Difference”. It took several years before I fully realized what that meant.
Once I had children, I began
Where Have All The Forests Gone?
Look around the area that you live in and what do you see? If you are lucky enough to live in the mountains of Western North Carolina, you are blessed to be surrounded by various species of trees, free flowing rivers and streams, and many other varieties of flora and fauna that call these forests home. I have lived in many states and their individual ecosystems over the last 30 years. The one thing that has continually drawn me away from a town or city I was living in was its lack of green. I grew up in the suburbs of Kansas City, Missouri where I spent 90% of the daylight hours outside playing and climbing trees. As I grew up, spending time outdoors became less important as adult responsibilities and concerns took over. Life took me to many places like Mesa, Arizona where even the houses appear to all be painted either a tan or peach color, or the houses are so close together and the lots so small that there is no room for Mother Nature to show the residents her glory. Local flora is limited to drought hardy palm trees and cactus like bushes. Last week ….
Science Says People Are Behind Climate Change
Did you know that more than 99% of the peer-reviewed scientific literature on climate change attributes the cause to humans? When I read the title of that article, I really wanted to laugh. Climate change is nothing to laugh about but for anyone to think that the planet got into the condition it is now without the help of the people that live on her just seemed ridiculous.
More than 88,000 climate-related papers have been written since 2012. All but less than 1% acknowledge the major contribution of human beings to climate change.
There Really Is Only One Mother & What You Can Do To Help Preserve Her
Whether you accept the idea that everyone and everything that lives on this planet have only one mother, Mother Earth, may depend on how you were raised. For humans to survive, we must rely on food that is grown, in one form or another, on the Earth. That means, the Earth is our Mother. Simple concept – yes?? I believe it should be. One perspective of science tells us that life on the 3rd rock from the sun began millions of years ago as single celled amoeba and through the process of evolution, eventually evolved into homo sapiens. Whether you believe that concept or you follow the concept of creationism really has no bearing on how our species has evolved/grown through the millennia. Without Mother Earth, nothing would have survived.
The Science Behind
The School Lunch and Test Score Connection
Abstract
In the writing of this essay, several studies were reviewed to obtain the groundwork, including studies that clearly showed a direct correlation between food quality and learning. Of all the studies identified through the use of the LIRN and Google Scholar databases, none were found that presented information clearly opposing the topic. As a result of the research, a hypothesis was formed showing improved nutrition in school food programs would create an overall increase in standardized test scores by improving the internal learning environment.
Essential Oils as a Treatment for Psychiatric Disorders
Abstract
This essay explores two peer-reviewed articles that explored the potential uses for essential oils in the therapeutic treatment of psychiatric disorders. As anxiety is recognized as one of the most commonly diagnosed psychiatric disorders, studies with a focus in this area were chosen.
